Asif Ali has swag, but Kasargold loses its shine halfway through.

Story: Alfie's girlfriend sneaked a batch of gold into Kerala, and his boss has ordered him to find it. Is there, however, more to it than meets the eye?

Review: Kasargold gets off to a fast start, and there are some extremely interesting moments throughout the film, but these just serve to highlight squandered chances. Because the movie has the potential to be great, but it falls short due to various flaws and at least one mysterious problem that arises at a crucial moment.

The theme of the narrative, which has an exciting opening hour, is gold smuggling. Alfie, played by Asif Ali, picks up his fiancée after she arrived with a shipment of gold that was brought in illegally. As they head to his boss, however, their car collides with another, and Alfie gets into an altercation with the driver, Faisal, played by Sunny Wayne. He was traveling to Thiruvananthapuram to arrange for the certificate for his wife.

Alfie discovers that the gold is missing from the automobile after they part ways and go their separate ways. In a state of panic, he runs to his employer, a Muslim politician (Siddique), who tells his gang where to go for the gold. One of the issues in this situation is how Faisal came to possess the gold, which is worth roughly Rs 3 crore. Alfie's job is to track out Faisal and return it.

The smuggled gold and the people carrying and pursuing it move to Mangalore and Goa, and we catch glimpses of desperate smugglers who will risk it all and perform a last job to turn around their fortunes. Going into more detail about the plot would imply giving away spoilers, so suffice it to say that. Additionally, there are corrupt and avaricious politicians as well as their thugs. Despite the film's plot problems, director Mridul Nair and co-writer Sajimon Prabhakar have developed compelling characters and even amusing moments that highlight the collateral damage inflicted by the "underbelly" of corrupt politicians and police officers. Shame on them for not going the extra mile to provide a clear, error-free script.

In addition to playing Alfie with the ideal balance of hotheadedness and arrogance, Asif Ali delivers loads of elegance, which is what the movie deserves. His ability to create the mood for the movie demonstrates his talent as an actor. Sunny Wayne makes Faisal more vulnerable. In this role as a dishonest politician, PP Kunhikrishnan, who previously played the magistrate in Nna, Thaan Case Kodu, executes a completely different personality flawlessly.
The story and performances in Kasargold are gripping, yet you can't help but sense that it could have been gold but isn't quite 24 carat.
